Honestly speaking, I think Folarin’s Jollof rice(J-rice) is the best J-rice I have ever tasted, period.I remember the first time he made J-rice for me, about two years ago, and I immediately fell in love.O_o. I called him up for the recipe about a year ago to try it out and did not get it right. Finally, I got him to come to my home to make his perfect modern J-rice. Sunday brunch was great! A couple of friends and I met up for brunch somewhere in midtown Manhattan. We all, for the most part, ordered something similar – something in the form of a sandwich. However, a particular friend had caramelized french toast. You know when you go out to eat with someone or a group of friends and someone’s food stands out? Yeah, my caramelized french toast friend won the most good looking brunch of the day. My friends french toast was luring and had perfectly cut bananas and strawberries stuck to the sides. Although I said nothing, I was almost certain I was going to make it when I got home. This is my recipe :-> Caramelized French Toast

Have a happy week!
I visited DC this weekend to visit one of my favorite secondary school friends. It was an awesome weekend. In addition to the fun activities we engaged in, we also visited the African market. This was particularly exciting for me because I don’t have a car to get to the nearest one beside me. I bought everything from peak milk to grounded egusi seeds. Fortunately, before going out that evening, my DC friend made egusi and pounded yam for dinner, so I was inspired to make it as soon as I got back home. Today was nothing short of a perfect day to make this delicious delicacy. Here is my egusi recipe:-> Egusi
Egusi + Pounded yam
It’s been a hot minute. I know and I’m sorry. Work has been keeping me very busy and quite stressed. Because of how stressed out I am, I decided to spend my weekend sleeping and resting. While walking my usual 51st st to 33rd st after Church on Sunday, I stumbled upon an amazing shop called Sabon. I bought their lavender bath foam and decided to end my weekend with a nice bubble bath, champagne and a cake. Since my favorite cake is Carrot cake, I tried it for the first time today. It turned out amazing!

Have an amazing week!
I had an AMAZING weekend! My good friend, Labo, drove over 8 hrs to see me 🙂 She literally colored my black and white life with bright popping colors.
Anyways, on Sunday evening, while texting my Canadian friend, I got the idea to make Moi Moi. I decided to make it to end the perfect weekend with Labo. Moi Moi is a famous Nigerian Dish that is basically steamed beans pudding. In my opinion, it’s a delicacy and can be eaten with garri or any type of rice. Labo and I made this dish together and here is our recipe :-> Moi Moi
BTW, I want to use this opportunity to introduce you to Splurge, Labo’s facebook fan page. Splurges motto is let your style exude your personality. Please take a second to like her fan page.
This week, lets let our style exude our personalities.

I have a bad habit. Every time I go out to eat, I find myself looking at the ingredients that was used to make the dish just so I can go home and make it my own way.
I was not the one eating out today. It was my friend Marco. I followed him to get his lunch at Europa Cafe somewhere between 48th and 6th ave New York, just because I needed to take a walk. He ordered something that combined the Italian Tomato Marinara, his choice of meat and pasta. It looked delicious, so I decided to make it for dinner – I visited Italy for dinner 🙂

Keep staying healthy,
I confess that eating healthy is something I have always struggled with. I love eating. As long as the food tastes great, it’s probably going into my mouth. I have never taken the time to look at how fatty or how unhealthy what I am eating is. I think it’s the Nigerian in me. lol
After visiting a good friend this weekend, I started to really consider eating healthy. My friend, Ruvi, made me the quickest and healthiest meal I have had in a long time. It was a combination of spinach, avocado ( which is very good for your skin), tomatoes, cucumbers and boneless fish. Very filling, yet very healthy.
Here is a link to her recipe :-> Ruvi’s Fish and Veg
After a little research, I have realized that eating a lot of vegetables and fruits and drinking a lot of water is a great way to start eating healthy.
